The
coaching session given to the U9s & U11s by London Irish coach Alex
Grieve was greatly received by the boys and coaches.
Lots of good ideas and drills for us to try in the future.Alex did say
that he was very impressed with the commitment and quality of play that
was shown by the boys and wished us well for our forthcoming tournaments.

Semi Final
Wimborne 15 - 0 North Dorset
This was a very successful day in which the whole squad can be proud of the achievement of reaching the Dorset and Wilts final. Of course our head coach will claim this is down to his new regime of setting homework! Overall we played four games scoring 13 tries and conceding none against strong and competitive sides. Each of the wins was built on a foundation of hard competitive play at pace where everyone did their job well of quick clean rucking, good running lines and excellent hands, this generated space for us to then use our flair and skill to score the tries without needing to kick!
All the teams that turned up to the competition set their stall out to win which meant selection was hard for us, however, we are pleased that everyone got a game and showed how much they have improved in the recent months. A very pleasing win over Weymouth underlined this with strong dominant play and great handling producing one of the most pleasing tries with Reuben taking the ball at speed to score in the corner. When I say everyone played a large thank you goes to Jonathon for accepting that he could not play because of numbers. This selflessness is a real example of team spirit.
The day was long and cold but the boys focused on every game and started in top gear in every one. We started very well with a pleasing win over Bournemouth. The first try was a result of 4 minutes of phased play (we did get the benefit of the doubt on a couple of decisions) however consistent recycling secured the try. The following two tries were from the same way, stretching the Bournemouth defence all over the pitch with great running lines.
The semi final was the icing on the cake against a physically stronger pack that we out rucked and out scrummaged. This gave our backs the opportunity to run with the ball and show the pace and skill they have, forcing North Dorset onto the back foot where we could then dominate and run in 3 hard won tries.
It was a very enjoyable
day where we were privileged to play against top Dorset teams in a competitive
but friendly spirit.
Our thanks go to all squad members who have worked hard for this result
and all parents in supporting the boys.
